What is an AI Overview?
An AI Overview is a Google-generated answer that appears above traditional search results and summarizes content from multiple websites. The sources used are linked — they gain visibility but often no click.
01 — Context
AI Overview in detail
For websites, this changes the equation. Simple informational queries are increasingly answered directly in the results, without anyone opening a page. Search queries with purchase intent, local relevance, or the desire for a provider still lead to clicks.
Who gets cited follows a recognizable pattern: content that answers a specific question completely, verifiably, and in a self-contained paragraph is used as a source more often than long, rambling texts.
02 — Practice
What this means for small businesses
This leads to a different content strategy: fewer but deeper pieces on specific questions instead of many superficial texts — and a short, standalone answer as high up on the page as possible.
03 — Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can you opt out of it?
Technically there are control options, but in practice opting out usually means giving up visibility as well. For most businesses, that's not a sensible approach.
Is content even worth it then?
Yes, but differently. One in-depth piece addressing a question customers actually ask is worth more than ten generic texts.

Let's talk briefly about whether this makes sense for you.
A twenty-minute conversation is usually enough to clarify whether a project makes sense. If not, we'll say so — that's cheaper for both sides than an offer nobody needs.
